  Indomethacin
   

This aspirin-like drug is sometimes used to either treat or prevent patent ductus arteriosus.

 

Surfactant
   

This is used to treat respiratory problems in premature infants.
If your baby has been given surfactant it is because he is not producing any, or enough of this soapy substance that helps prevent the air sacs in his lungs from collapsing.
